The USA in Bible Prophecy

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” Revelation 13:11 (KJV).

The Bible speaks about the United States of America in prophecy and it reveals important details about the future of America's political and spiritual structure. So what is forestold about the United States of America? War, economic collapse and moral decay ? Is America headed for Armageddon?

Prophecy and Symbolism

To begin to understand both Daniel and Revelation and the key to unlocking prophecy you must understand 'symbolism'. What do 'kingdoms', 'beasts', 'churches', 'women', 'land', 'sea' all mean? Daniel records beasts or "kingdoms" arising from "the great sea." Seas, in prophecy, represent "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." So "coming up out of the earth" would suggest a country coming up out of a comparatively unoccupied territory. See Daniel 7:2; Revelation 17:15.

How do we know it's the USA?

The beast with two horns symbolizes the United States of America. There are various clues given in both Daniel and Revelation that can be used as a guide to determine without a doubt that it speaks of America. Firstly, it speaks like a lamb [Lamb like sybolically means Christ like or Christian]. Identifying marks are that this nation would rise to power in a comparatively unoccupied territory [arose out of the earth] around A.D. 1798 (at the end of the 1260-year prophecy).

What nation in 1798 began rising into power?

The United States of America was seen "coming up out of the earth" - the nation must rise in territory that had previously been largely unoccupied.

How will America 'Speak' like a Dragon?

He spoke "as a dragon" having "all the power of the first beast." He "causes the earth and them that live on the earth to worship the first beast." "He says to them that dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast." This part of the prophecy is yet to be fulfilled completely as nations "speak" through their legal system - through the making of laws. The United States of America has been known as the home of the brave and the land of the free. The United States of America has been known as a country offering both religious freedom and civil freedom. That is, freedom of religion and freedom of government. [Free from a Pope and free from a King] People can choose their government leaders and freedom to choose what religion they practice. Essentially, a government with no King and a church with no Pope. The time will come, however, when the United States will 'speak' like a dragon, forcing everyone to either honor 'the Lords day' Sunday, the commandment of the papacy, or face a variety of punishments including prison, fines, property seiure, or death. This seems impossible today but it is not only possible it is predicted in by the Bible!

How strong and powerful is the USA today?

Does it have the power to urge other countries to cooperate? Consider for a minute, economically Wall Street is the dynamo of the economy of the world. Computer technology, medical technology, communication methods, military might. It is clear that both the influence and power of the United States and the papacy are escalating with rapidity.

Could a government really control the buying and selling?

Revelation 13 says those that don’t worship the way they are being told to worship will not be allowed to buy and sell. Consider World War II, food and gas stamp rations were common place. In times of crisis its very common for the government to do this in the form of 'Economic sanctions' = cannot buy or sell unless you cooperate.

The prophecies in Revelation are talking about government powers so when it says those that do not cooperate cannot buy or sell it’s not just talking about the local person who wants to go to the market its talking about governments of the world cooperating with this universal worship that will be forced by the new world order.

The chief producers of the products of the world are the nations that buy into these two powers Europe and North America (even Australia is tied in as they recognize the Queen). And just about every other country is somehow tied in and recognizes one of these two powers.

What other factors could possibly help set the stage for a worldwide law to execute those who refuse to violate conscience?

Luke 21:25 25And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Something is going to frighten them, will it be an economic collapse? Terrorist act? Natural disaster? Or a combination of events?
